Dressed for Success

Today we are looking at a passage of scripture that is widely quoted and more well known then most other passages of scripture in the bible… putting on the full armour of God.

Today I’m going to resist the temptation to go down the track of most preaches, teachings etc that I’ve heard on this passage of scripture where the main emphasis is put on the possible meanings of the various pieces of armour.

If I go down this route this morning I’m going to at best give you my personal interpretation of the armour of God and maybe I’m right and maybe I’m wrong but rather than doing that I want to just look plainly at this scripture this morning and pull out some things that maybe are often overlooked or under-preached just because it is seemingly not as sensational as if one comes up with amazing clever descriptions of what all the different pieces of armour mean.

I want to focus this morning on some key statements are made even before we reach the “armour passage” and look at the focus of the elements that make up the armour rather than at the armour itself.
